Abstract:
This book provides a comprehensive overview and treatment of the description and the analysis of the semi-active suspension control problem and existing control strategies (up to 2010). Several approaches, using different control theories (such as LPV, MPC or non-linear), are presented and evaluated. A methodology to analyze and evaluate suspension performances while identifying optimal performance bounds is given. Semi-active suspension strategies to enhance either comfort or road-holding performances are highlighted and analyzed. The book includes survey sections, where the problem, the methodologies and related works are introduced in a tutorial framework, to suit a non familiar reader. Therefore, the book can be effectively accessed at three reading levels:- a tutorial for students in automotive systems,
- an application-oriented approach, appropriate for engineers and practitioners, and
- a control design-oriented one, introducing original semi-active suspensions control algorithms for researchers.
